Dale A. Jenkins (Inducted in 1990)

Dale Jenkins was born in Jersey City, New Jersey in 1946. He began training in Isshin-Ryu around 1966 under Joel Bucholtz. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Rutgers University in 1969 and continued his study as a graduate student at Seaton Hall University.

He taught Isshin-Ryu for many years before moving to Hopatcong, NJ in 1972. He opened the Jersey Judo Karate School in Kenvil, Hopatcong in 1974 and served as its director until his death in 1984.

Besides holding the rank of Roku-Dan in Isshin-Ryu Karate, Sensei Jenkins also earned his black belt in Judo.

SDuring his 18 year career as a martial artist, Sensei Jenkins lectured and demonstrated the Martial Arts to numerous social, civic, athletic and educational organizations throughout New Jersey. He was Director of the Marital Arts Programs at the Pocono Sports Camp and served as the United States representative of the Isshin-Ryu World Karate Association. He authored the book, "An Education in the Martial Arts".

Sensei Jenkins was a certified instructor for the New Jersey State Police commission and had been an Assistant Coach for the New Jersy A.A.U. Karate Team. He served as President of the Jersey Judo - Karate Kai Association.

Sensei Jenkins passed away at his home in Hopatcong after a long illness. He was laid to rest in the Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington.
